Paste is old products and new and old don’t mix, the paste should not be needed.
I use coloplast brava adhesives remover spray to remove my wafer, it makes the wafer fall off within 30 seconds no peeling off the skin.
Good luck

Hi Sunshine . Do you think I should just put on the bag without any seal or try the bag with the new already formed seal rings ?

Use a barrier ring instead of paste. Make sure you are washing well between each step. If the barrier ring won't stick to your skin (my problem) apply it directly to your appliance stretching it for the circumference of your stoma. Do you use skin prep? And stoma powder if needed?

I’m definitely going to try a barrier ring on my next change . I really wonder why my WCN suggested paste . I usually remove with the adhesive remover and then just wipe with water and baby wipes followed by friars balsem to keep my bag on . She also said I should not use powder so I’m very lost

My ostomy nurse had suggested paste as well. After a while I got rid of it and extended my wear time. You could also lose the baby wipes and wash with just water...I us an anti-bacterial soap then rinse really well. The baby wipes likely have some kind of lotion to them that might prevent your ring/appliance from sticking to your skin well. Maker sure everything is really dry. I use a hair dryer/blower to do that. Blast the whole area with a spray on skin prep (or use a wipe), then apply your ring and wafer.

Lose the baby wipes. Use warm water and if you like I use a drop of antibacterial soap. Rinse well. Dry completely. Skin prep complete area under appliance. Dry well. If you can get a barrier ring to stick it goes on you or your appliance now. Apply your appliance. Hold for 5 minutes.Wear either a hernia belt or belt on skin flange for at least an hour. Keep it simple. ❤️

I agree—paste doesn’t work nearly as well as barrier rings. When you apply the ring, make sure no gaps of skin are showing between the stoma and edge of the ring. It should completely fill the gap between your stoma and the edge of the wafer—snug, but not too tight. Good luck!

Here’s a fast way to treat red, irritated peristomal skin:

This method works great, especially with the maximum strength butt paste. Just make sure you get it completely off your skin before applying your wafer and ring. Otherwise, you might not get good adhesion.

Do you think crusting would be a good option to try Lennie?

Drop friars balsam, wipes. Get barrier rings, since you are aware of sore skin it best imo to change after 4 days, sometimes if you go longer and bad things are happening they can blow up fast, it’s best to look at the skin and take measures sooner vs later. This is not the time to try and make it 20 days 😆 good luck SS

If you try crusting I prefer Graham cracker. It doesn't adhere as well as flour crust, I just use that to cut out the stoma rings then use the graham cracker on the rest of the area. Think I'll try a shot of canned whipped cream in the stoma instead of (sigh) marshmellons. I bet this will offer good change time window.

Beer batter crust. Yep, that's the way to go. Beer batter crust. Would feel Much better under a barrier then Panko crust (OUCH)
Just don't use it on a camping trip, that would be Bear batter. And, you would get Bear... Battered!
