When season three of Bridgerton was originally declared as #Polin season, fans of the original book series were left wondering: but what about Benedict? The second eldest Bridgerton child, played by Luke Thompson, was the original subject of the third novel by Julia Quinn — and we all thought he’d be the next subject of the screen adaptation.

While the Netflix team has since won us over to Penelope and Colin’s time in the spotlight, this season has only increased our hunger for more Benedict in season 4. It’s also grown our affections for the undeniably adorable Luke Thompson.

Thompson, who hails from England but was raised in France, shares his character’s love of the arts. While Benedict is a painter, Thompson is (obviously) an actor, who has studied at London’s prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). He also starred opposite James Norton (Little Women, War & Peace) in the West End theatre adaption of Hanya Yanagihara’s hit tome A Little Life.
Both actor and character have an undeniable charm which has earned them a legion of adoring fans.

The two were seen at the Vanity Fair Rising Stars BAFTA party in January 2024. And look how cute…

While this could easily be an affectionate moment between two co-stars, in 2021, Harriet posted a photo of Luke to her Instagram, captioned, “My favourite Luke soz [Luke Newtown, who plays Colin Bridgerton)”
